Artist Spotlight: RAC

If you were to take a journey through our iTunes, you’d find yourself overwhelmed by the number of remixed songs. From one-hit wonders to consistent bangers, remixers have always made a name for themselves through their creative interpretations of original tracks. In many cases, nothing beats the original. However, some songs may never reach the ears of the masses unless they’re touched by a talented remixer. This is the basis in which we bring you this edition of our Artist Spotlight.

We’re certain you’ll agree that interpretations done by Remix Artist Collective (better known as RAC) are just as fantastic, if not better.

Andre Anjos, founder, created RAC in 2007 under the mission statement to “maintain a style of remixing that strays from the ‘club mix’ archetype, creating new incarnations of songs that stem from the original structure…” and above all else, “strive for excellence and good taste regardless of genre”. First, Andre began collaborating internationally with former members Chris Angelovski (RAC Crookram Mix) and Aaron Jasinski (RAC Jasinksi Mix). Now with producer/engineer/mixer Andrew Maury (RAC Maury Mix) and songwriter/producer/DJ Karl Kling (RAC Kling Mix), RAC has produced 6 albums and over 100 re-interpretations. Andre & Karl represent RAC at shows as RAC DJ and have begun touring North & South America. [As we write this, RAC DJ is currently tearing it up at Republic Live alongside Steve Aoki and the rest of the Dim Mak Records crew, finishing up their 11th SxSW performance in 9 days.]

What we enjoy most about RAC is their remarkable ability to re-interpret the feeling of a song without sacrificing quality and still capturing it’s original essence…not to mention their excellent taste in music, remixing the likes of Ra Ra Riot, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and Bloc Party. In addition to remixes, RAC’s artists have had their hands on musical productions for various projects. Television shows Entourage, How To Make It In America, and 90210 feature writings/recordings from Andre & co.

But enough talking, we’ll let the music do all the spotlighting from this point on. Sit back, relax, and groove!
