As a great year comes to an end, we look back on all the amazing music that came out in 2011 and want to share with you our favorite songs of the year.  In our usual Music Monday fashion, we want to bring you a song suggestion for every day, including a weekend bonus! This week, each of us will showcase one of our favorite tracks, bringing you 12 of our favorite listens from 2011.  A huge thanks to our friends for all your support this year!! *this past weekend we celebrated a very special birthday for Yooney Tunes! Experienced Avicii in Las Vegas; no explanation necessary.

Something DJ Qbert said in the recent hip-hop/dance music documentary, The Electro Wars, continues to resonate within us. When referring to sites like Hypem and countless other music blogs, his opinion is that they’re making DJs unoriginal.

Say 4 DJs walk into a record store. After hours of shuffling through vinyl, each will walk out holding their own unique, personalized set of tracks. Nowadays those same 4 DJs will go to the same music blogs that post the same music, and in turn you hear the same hits everywhere you go.

For us, when we decide on the music to support and post, we keep it unprejudiced. By that we mean these picks are not determined by genre, newness, or popularity. It’s all about finding GOOD music wherever it lives! Personally, we love getting hit in the face with a forgotten jam you grooved hard to at age 12; just awesome. We also gotta show love to the up and comers, the bedroom producers…the ones who are chasing their dreams like us. So this is our bat signal! Any and all of you who want to network, do business, trade feedback, or just shoot the shit and talk music, HIT.US.UP!
