EDIT: currently sitting at #2 on the iTunes Electronic charts! Whaat?
RAC started a little over 5 years ago and this is in many ways a celebration of that. I wouldn’t be writing this without your support so I can’t tell you how grateful I am. Sometimes I spend an hour or two liking every tumblr post that talks about us. It just means that much.
I think we have a serious chance at making into some kind of iTunes chart, so tell your friends and help us spread the word.
Wow does time fly! It seems like yesterday we were prepping our Coachella 2011 set and listening to our first Coachella mixes. Another year gone by and it is time to return to the desert for our favorite weekend of the year. There is nothing like escaping the everyday hustle of life to sit back and enjoy amazing music for 3 days! Of course, with Coachella weekend approaching, we wanted to share with you all a sneak peak into the music you might hear at this weekend’s festival. Our second annual Coachella compilation mixes again feature two sides of the show.
Indie-O Playground represents the relaxing, sunny, cool breeze daytime feel, with a mix of indie, hip hop, and house artists. Coachella After Dark takes you through the music when the sun goes down, when big electro and progressive acts take stage. If you are going to be at the festival, come find us in the campground with our big sunset banner….
It’s 3pm on Friday December 17, and you’re aching for the weekend. It’s been a long week, your soul is in need of some positivity, your ears are fiending for some funk, and your feet are just waiting to groove. Well ladies, gentlemen, students, full-time grinders, unemployed folk, and music lovers alike, here is our newest mix dedicated to put a smile on your face and get you dancing!
This time we wanted to expose you all to some of our favorite indie funk and disco house songs. In this 40 minute groove session, you’ll find some amazing tunes by The Twelves, A-Trak, and Treasure Fingers, along with remixes of Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Clash. For the full tracklist check out our MUSIC page!
We hope your feet, ears, and soul are ready for this one. Without further ado, Groove Monsters’ 4th mix installment:

You know those artists that make you feel good any time you hear one of their songs? I mean there are pump up songs, or nostalgic songs, but I’m talking about that truly good vibe you feel when you listen. That is Tortured Soul for us. Any time we hear this soulful house band, we are automatically in a better mood. Known for their funky, jazz-inspired, soulful sound produced from a bassist, keyboardist, and drummer, Tortured Soul has amazed house music fans all over the world with their awesome live shows. I personally think drummer John-Christian Urich is a thing of wonder. Imagine a live band playing an entire set with no interruptions, and the drummer is the singer! Brooklyn’s group of black skinny-tie wearing musicians is led by John-Christian along with keyboardist Ethan White and Bassist Jason Kriveloff, combining to bring unique vocals with seamless live house music!
We were lucky enough to see Tortured Soul this week at Orange County’s famous house club, FOCUS. Their show combines the roots of jazz, soul, rock, and house music, all blended together to make one amazing vibe. I don’t know how these guys do it, but playing their endless instrumental set made them a Groove Monsters favorite!
Here are some pictures and videos from their show!!
Make sure to support these guys, they are truly gifted musicians!
Groove Monsters are back at it again with our newest mix!
