We have a set of some mellow tracks that we want to share with you this week. It’s been a chill few weeks in the GM camp but we definitely have some exciting things coming up in December and 2012. Hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe Halloween!
After all the Coachella-related festivities in the past month, we’ve been quite TKO’ed as of late. Mainly just needed to take time to pause and reflect on our weekend, and our overall journey thus far. Don’t know about you, but we feel like time is FLYING! This time last year, Groove Monsters didn’t exist. We were just two dudes in a group that all went to Coachella 2010, and came out realizing that pursuing a life of art and positivity was what we wanted. Fast forward to one year later, and we find ourselves performing in front of our best friends and the Coachella crowd for 45 minutes alongside Cut Copy & Magnetic Man…f*cking unbelievable. This opportunity was truly the experience of a lifetime, and for helping us get to this point with your love, we thank you.
Now, regarding our set…
HOLY SHIT THAT WAS FUN. So thankful that people were diggin’ our tunes! To still draw a crowd despite the big conflicting acts was amazing. There was a moment during Adele where where we remember looking up and seeing everyone with the biggest smiles, raging their faces off!! Safe to say we brought out everyone’s inner groove monster and that, ladies and gentlemen, is what it’s all about.
Choosing tracks was not an easy task. While showcasing the groovy vibe we love, we wanted to make sure we gave you a feel of who we are and what we’re about. Our set integrates funk to electro, and was designed to be a 46-minute music experience. Additionally, we’re all about showing love to producers who aren’t on Beatport’s Top 100 so check out the tracklist for those gems!
Without further ado here is Volume 3, our set from the EnergyFACTory!!
Moving on, here are our favorite 3 performances that we experienced each day!
Friday:
1. Monarchy
2. A-Trak
3. The Chemical Brothers

In the midst of all the craziness, we tried to take pictures to document the weekend. Here are some pictures from our view of the festival. You can see a lot more pictures from our Art Director, 12FV, who did a Coachella Album for Lookbook.nu (trust us, his pictures are much sicker)
Goodbye Coachella, once again you have treated us well… til next year!
Now that the high of the weekend is over, time to refocus our energy to what’s ahead. Life is what you make of it, so here’s to a bigger and brighter future for Groove Monsters and our community!
After hours of music browsing, and listening to hundreds of songs on numerous websites, sometimes songs and artists start to sound very similar. Every once in a while though, you play a track that catches your ears in a way that makes you stop and really listen. You start to remember why you were music searching in the first place, to find those songs that really get you groovin’. That is how we felt when we heard Monarchy, our next artist spotlight.
Monarchy is a synthpop duo based out of London, although the two members are both originally from Australia. Monarchy combines the amazing sounds of instruments with professional and unique producing skills to not only release some funky house songs, but also some amazing remixes from the likes of Jamiroquai, Lady Gaga, Kelis, and Ellie Goulding. Monarchy was formed in 2009, and in such a short amount of time, have risen to popularity among fans from many different genres.
In June 2010, they became the first band to ever broadcast a live performance into space during their concert in Cape Canaveral, Florida. After only performing live for about a year, Monarchy is sure to surprise many people during their Friday night set at Coachella 2011!
You can also catch another great Monarchy remix in our “Indie-o Playground” Coachella 2011 mix. If you want to suggest some new artists for us to check out, tweet us and your artist may become our next spotlight!
What’s up everybody! Welcome to the first installation of our Coachella 2011 mixes. As many of you hopefully know by now, we love producing mixes dedicated to big music events, comprising of only artists that will be performing at these shows. Our next dedication goes out to, none other than, Coachella 2011!!
This 43-minute journey showcases some of the variety in music that Coachella offers its attendees. Coachella itself has had a major influence on our music career and we are excited for the opportunity to make a series of mixes dedicated to this amazing music festival.
With this mix we really aimed to capture the sunrise to sunset, chill essence of the 3-day festival. Incorporating indie artists to funky DJs, we really hope you enjoy this journey through music! Ain’t no April tomfoolery here, without further ado:
Next up is Coachella After Dark, an electro mix which will strive to depict the festival grounds when night falls. We hope you stay tuned! And to everyone who’s stayed with us, this goes without saying but your support has truly been unbelievable. Through your love we’ve been chosen to spin a special 1-hour set at Global Inheritance’s Energy FACTory! Our set time is: FRIDAY 8:45pm :D
